National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month Video Contest

Winning Video Conveys Pride and Power of Aircraft Carriers

The National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month Committee has selected the video by David Ferrer of Sacramento, California as the winner of the National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month Video Contest.

Ferrer will receive a $1,500 prize for his video which the Committee believes best conveyed the purpose, power and excitement of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.

“I wanted to create a video that was uplifting and inspirational. I was intrigued at the fact that there is a month to celebrate aircraft carriers and the much bigger role they play than most people would probably imagine,” Ferrer stated.

In a fitting tribute, Ferrer uses an excerpt from a President John F. Kennedy June 1963 speech for the video soundtrack. 2017 is the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of President Kennedy and the two U.S. Navy aircraft carriers named in his honor -- the future USS John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) and CV 67.

Ferrer, a graduate of the University of California Davis, is a freelance videographer/graphic designer who is passionate about making and editing great videos.

November 2017 is National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month. The month honors the value, accomplishments and contributions of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, as well as the men and women who serve aboard them.

The month includes a series of events celebrating the U.S. Navy’s aircraft carrier’s role in defending the freedom of the United States, protecting the security of our nation and our allies, responding to crises, and spurring technological innovation.
